Alice is well known for her oil paintings of wild flowers, and painted mostly in Marin County. She was somewhat of a botanical student as well as she painted 350 varieties of flowers in 256 studies. She exhibited widely, including the San Francisco Art Association, the Bohemian Club, and the Artistes Francaise in Paris.
Alice's parents came to California when Alice was an infant. She showed artistic talents early on and studied at the San Francisco School of Design. She remained in San Francisco her entire life, and taught art at the San Francisco School of Design from 1897 until 1940.
