Throughout his career, Joshua Meador made painting excursions into the desert east of Los Angeles, spending much of that time near Palm Springs. He was commissioned by Walt Disney to create many desert scenes near Disney's Smoke Tree Ranch at the foot of Mount San Jacinto. Many of these paintings were later returned to the Meador Family and were sold through Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery. These paintings were prized by collectors because they had Walt Disney's private inventory stamp on the back and were once owned by Walt and displayed at Smoke Tree Ranch.
