From 1955-1960, Joshua Meador kept a studio in Carmel Highlands, just south of Carmel. From this base, he painted scenes of the California Coast, often painting coastal scenes at Garapatta and Point Lobos State Parks. He also painted scenes in Monterey and scenes of Monterey Harbor.

Josh kept his studio in the old firehouse in Carmel Highlands. He and Libby lived upstairs while his studio was downstairs. He often had his artist friends visit and share his studio including fellow Disney artist, Ralph Hulett and Bennett Bradbury.
