Joshua Meador 1911-1965 paintings of Mendocino County Scenes and northward, including the Oregon Coast
In 1960, Joshua Meador built his dream home on the cliffs above the Pacific in Caspar, just north of Mendocino. He focused his time and energies painting from his busy in home studio while taking painting excursions and promotion treks up and down the west coast. He painted Coastal California with his unique palette knife style, sea scapes, harbor scenes, and scenes of small towns, ranches, and farms. Meanwhile, the other half of his artistic life continued at Disney Studios. Josh was at the pinnicle of his career. Not wanting to lose Joshua Meador's talented services, Walt Disney suggested a special agreement contract. Josh was allowed to build his own northern California coastal home with its fine art studio, but in return, he would remain on contract to Disney as the studio's Director of Animation Effects (including his full salary, agreeing to return to the studio in LA when needed.	the Meador home (1960-1965) on the bluffs above the sea in Caspar, California, just north of Mendocino
For example, while the studio was filming Mary Poppins in 1964, Josh returnedto help film the famous penquin sequence in Mary Poppins. Josh was on set for the filming of the live action with Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews, and then in post production, mixed the live action footage with the prepared animation. This was quite a technological ground breaking feat in 1965.
